(July 20, 2018) – The NLSA Lightning Sprints hit the road last weekend on a big three-race swing through south central North Dakota. The action kicked off at Tri County Speedway in Wishek, N.D. on Thursday night.

A stout field of 18 Lightning Sprints were checked in for the first of two nights at Tri County. Alan Truscinski of Greenbush, Minn. started on the outside of the front row and raced to the win. Truscinski was followed to the line by pole sitter, Josh Abrahamson. Dexter Dvergsten, Kelsi Pederson and Presley Truedson rounded out the top five.

Sixteen drivers made the call for Friday’s event at Tri County. Lawrence Veralrud and Dvergsten made up the front row for the 20-lap main event. Dvergsten grabbed the lead from Veralrud and went on to take the win. Dvergsten held off Thursday’s winner, Truscinski, as Pederson, Tim Estenson and Veralrud rounded out the top five.

Estenson had to charge from 16th to finish in the fourth position.

The NLSA Lightning Sprints made their first-ever stop to Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, N.D. on Saturday night. Kelsi Pederson took the inaugural win as she led all 20 laps from the outside of the front row. Pederson held off Truscinski, Kwiatkoski, Alex Truscinski and Mark Williams.

This weekend the series will return to Greenbush Race Park on Saturday and Buffalo River Race Park on Sunday. Sunday’s event will have double features at the semi-banked quarter-mile. The first set of features will be a makeup from July 8th.
