Devils Lake Speedway: Nygaard, Hall, Aberle, Bachmeier and Wilhelmi Collect Wins

CRARY, N.D. (August 25, 2018) – Devils Lake Speedway’s all-time Sprint Car wins leader tallied another victory to his total on Saturday night. Wade Nygaard of Grand Forks picked up the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA / Canadian-American Outlaw Sprint Series win for his 15th career win at the speedway.

Grant Hall and Daniel Aberle scored the WISSOTA Dirt Track Series wins. Lane Bachmeier was the Pure Stock winner. Drew Wilhelmi picked up the Circle Track Mini Truck win.

Shane Roemeling and Jordan Graham led the field of 19 Sprint Cars to the green flag for the 25-lap feature. Roemeling led the first lap by a nose over third-place starter, Austin Pierce. Roemeling opened up a five car length gap on lap two over Pierce as Wade Nygaard and Jade Hastings fought for third.

A caution on lap five set up a double-file restart. As the race resumed, Nygaard jumped out to the lead but the red flag soon followed as Blake Egeland tipped over in turn two.

Roemeling led Pierce on the ensuing double file restart and jumped out to a big lead. Nine-time NOSA champion and current point leader, Nygaard, moved by Pierce on lap six and set his sights on Roemeling.

Nygaard took the lead on lap 10 as he drove around Roemeling in turns one and two and quickly opened up a big advantage. The race was slowed again on lap 15 as NOSA rookie, Brendan Mullen, slid off the track in turn two while running sixth.

Roemeling slid back to fourth on the restart as Jade Hastings and Pierce moved by him. The final restart came with five to go, where Pierce shot by Hastings in turn one.

Nygaard went on to easily claim his first Devils Lake Speedway win of the season.

The WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds were 18 cars strong for their 20-lap feature. Grant Hall made the trip from Brandon, Manitoba and left Devils Lake Speedway with the feature win. Hall started eighth and took the lead from Randy Thompson on lap four and never looked back.

Hall led the final 16 circuits to pick up the win by a half-second over 11th place starter, Jaden Varnson. Cole Haugland started 14th and rounded out the podium. WISSOTA national point contender, Lance Schill, applied heavy pressure to Hall in the closing laps. The two made contact with two to go, which resulted in a caution that was charged to Schill.

Fresh off a win the previous night at River Cities Speedway, Daniel Aberle cruised to the WISSOTA Street Stock feature win. A solid field of 19 Street Stocks made up the starting grid for the 20-lap feature. Dustin Ebensteiner and Dan McNamee battled for the lead early on, but Aberle charged from ninth to take the point on lap four. Once out front, Aberle never looked back as he collected his division-leading fifth Devils Lake Speedway win.

Aberle’s margin of victory was 1.2 seconds over Ebensteiner. James Meagher, Trey Hess and Adam Burrows rounded out the top five. SUMMARY
