GREENBUSH, Minn. (August 21, 2018) – With Sunday’s event at Buffalo River Race Park being canceled due to rain, Greenbush Race Park hosted the only NLSA Lightning Sprint race of the weekend.

A field of eight Lightning Sprints were checked in at the high-banked quarter-mile oval. Kelsi Pederson of East Grand Forks, Minn. took the heat race win over Dexter Dvergsten of Greenbush, who started back in seventh.

Dvergsten and Pederson led the field to the green flag for the 15-lap feature with Dvergsten grabbing point. Pederson rode in the second spot over Alex Truscinski. Dvergsten cruised to the win by nearly four seconds over Pederson. Truscinski, Lawrence Veralrud and Alan Truscinski rounded out the top five.

The NLSA Lightning Sprints will be back in action on Friday night at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo. The event will mark the series’ first-ever appearance at the semi-banked three-eighths mile oval.

The NLSA Lightning Sprints return to their home tracks to wrap up the weekend with visits to Greenbush on Saturday and Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn. on Sunday.

Kelsi Pederson sits atop the NLSA points by seven points over Alan Truscinski.
