(August 15, 2018) – It was another busy weekend for the Northern Lightning Sprint Association with four main events on tap over the course of three days. The action kicked off Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. as the NLSA Lightning Sprints made their third appearance of the season at the Bullring.

Dexter Dvergsten started third on the grid for the feature and led all 12 laps on his way to the win. Dvergsten took the win by a comfortable 1.4 seconds over Presley Truedson. Truedson took the runner-up position from Alan Truscinski with two laps to go. Truscinski, Pederson and Steve Hildebrand rounded out the top five.

On Saturday, the series returned to one of its home tracks, Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, Minn. Kelsi Pederson and Alan Truscinski led the field to the green flag for the 15-lap feature with Pederson grabbing the early lead. Pederson paced the pack until Presley Truedson made a pass for the lead exiting turn four on lap six.

Truedson went on to claim the win – her second of 2018 – over Pederson. Alex Truscinski, Dvergsten and Alan Truscinski rounded out the top five.

The weekend came to a close Sunday evening at Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn. In addition to the regularly scheduled show, the NLSA Lightning Sprints also ran a make-up feature from the July 8 rainout.

In the first feature, a lot of good race cars got torn up, unfortunately. It started when a gaggle of cars got together in turn two, which resulted in Presley Truedson getting hooked in the right rear tire. Truedson went upside down. She was okay, but she was done for the night.

On the ensuing restart, another incident resulted in Jason Berg getting upside down on the front straightaway. The Fargo driver’s No. 100 machine made contact with the wall before coming to rest on all fours. Berg was okay as well.

In dominating fashion, NLSA rookie, Tim Estenson, led every lap of both features. His first win of the evening was also his first career NLSA win. In the regularly scheduled feature, Estenson was followed to the line by Pederson, Alan Truscinski, Josh Abrahamson and Alex Truscinski.

In the make-up feature, Lawrence Veralrud finished a distant second to Estenson. Abrahamson, Pederson and Mark Williams rounded out the top five.
