GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 10, 2018) – Weekly Friday night racing at River Cities Speedway continued last week. In addition to the Premier Racing Series, the NLSA Lightning Sprints returned to the high-banked three-tenths mile clay oval.

With the 58th annual Knoxville Nationals taking place in Knoxville, Iowa, no track or series points were on the line for the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints. With 13 car checked in, Brendan Mullen and Ty Hanten led the field to the green flag. Mullen led the first four trips around the speedway until Hanten took the point on lap five.

Hanten, who was in search of his first career NOSA win, led the next 16 laps until nine-time series champion and current point leader, Wade Nygaard, took the lead with four laps to go.

Once out front, Nygaard checked out and took the win by 1.6 seconds over Hanten. Shane Roemeling, Jade Hastings and Mullen rounded out the top five.

Brad Seng took the lead of the Performance Auto Late Model feature on lap eight and never looked back en route to his first win of the season at River Cities Speedway. Jeff Hapala led the first seven laps of the feature until Seng, who started sixth, took the point. Seng took the win by 1.2 seconds over Ryan Corbett, while Joey Pederson, Dustin Strand and Hapala rounded out the top five.

Dexter Dvergsten started third on the grid for the NLSA Lightning Sprint feature and led all 12 laps on his way to the win. Dvergsten took the win by a comfortable 1.4 seconds over Presley Truedson. Truedson took the runner-up position from Alan Truscinski with two laps to go. Truscinski, Pederson and Steve Hildebrand rounded out the top five.

Lance Schill cruised to his division-leading fifth Happy Harry’s WISSOTA Midwest Modified feature win on Friday at River Cities Speedway. The current WISSOTA national point leader started eighth on the grid, but quickly found himself inside the top five. Schill ran fourth on lap six before getting by Thursday night’s winner at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn., Reise Stenberg, on lap nine of 18. Schill then picked off Matt Schow and Nate Reynolds to take the lead with four to go.

Schill went on to collect the win by seven-tenths of a second over Reynolds, Schow, Austin Hunter and Brandon Bahr.

Daniel Aberle charged from the ninth starting position to score his first Wells Concrete WISSOTA Street Stock feature win of the season. The Street Stocks were 24 cars strong for their 15-lap feature. Shane Swenson led the opening laps until Bryce Reimer took the top spot on lap three. Aberle charged from third to first on lap six and never looked back. Aberle led the remainder of the event and picked up the win over John Halvorson, Adam Burrows, Steven Richards and Dan McNamee, who rounded out the top five after starting 19th.

On Friday, the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series invade River Cities Speedway for the final time in 2018. The Outlaws will be joined by the NLRA Late Models. Get your tickets at slspromotions.ticketforce.com.
