GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 21, 2018) – Joey Pederson’s consistency at River Cities Speedway showed once again with a runner-up finish on Friday night with the NLRA Late Models in front of a near capacity crowd.
After a second place run in his heat, Pederson lined up inside of row three for the 25-lap main event. Pederson battled with Ryan Corbett, Mike Balcaen and Brad Seng for the first half of the feature before moving his way into second on lap 13.
Once in second, Pederson set his sights on the nine-time and defending World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series champion, Donny Schatz, for the lead. However, Schatz was able to extend his advantage to a full straightaway once clear of lapped traffic.
In the final 10 laps, Pederson checked out from Balcaen and Seng, who continued to battle for the third position. Pederson took the checkers in second to record his seventh consecutive top five finish at the Bullring.
Kelsi Pederson competed in just one NLSA Lightning Sprint event over the weekend. She began Saturday night by picking up a heat race win at Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, Minn. The driver of the No. 93 Henchcraft started on the outside of the front row for the feature and quickly settled into the second spot. Kelsi rode in the runner-up spot all race long to collect her sixth consecutive top five finish.
Entering the triple-header NLSA weekend, Kelsi holds a seven point lead over Alan Truscinski atop the point standings. Kelsi will be competing at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D. on Friday, Greenbush Race Park on Saturday, and Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn. on Sunday as she chases her first career points championship.
Just as he did the previous week, Tucker Pederson raced to a sixth place finish with the WISSOTA Street Stocks on Saturday at Greenbush Race Park. He also collected a heat race win earlier in the evening.
This weekend, Joey will be back in his No. 7P WISSOTA Late Model on Friday at River Cities Speedway and Saturday at Greenbush Race Park with the NLRA Late Models. Tucker will also be racing at both River Cities and Greenbush with the Street Stocks.
