Pederson Records Two Top-Five Finishes in Doubleheader Weekend

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (August 29, 2018) – Joey Pederson collected another pair of top five finishes over the weekend. On Friday, Pederson raced to his eighth consecutive top five at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.

A second place finish in his heat put Pederson on the outside of row two for the 20-lap feature at the Bullring. Pederson moved his No. 7P machine into third right at the drop of the green flag before battling with Brad Seng for the second spot.

Pederson used the outside line to grab second on lap three before putting pressure on Dustin Strand for the lead. Pederson remained within striking distance of Strand through the first half of the race but went on to take the checkers in second, five car lengths behind Strand.

Pederson followed the NLRA Late Models to Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, Minn. on Saturday. The East Grand Forks, Minn. driver charged from sixth to second in his heat, putting him third on the grid for the 25-lap feature.

Pederson battled with Bill Mooney for the final podium position early on before finishing in the fourth position.

With just three events remaining with the Northern Lightning Sprint Association, Kelsi Pederson holds a slim six-point lead atop the series standings. Kelsi had a pair of events on the card this weekend, both of which yielded a fourth-place finish. The series visited Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D. for the first time ever on Friday. On Saturday, they made the haul up to Greenbush.

Like Joey, Tucker also raced at River Cities on Friday and Greenbush on Saturday. Friday’s feature was plagued by cautions. Unfortunately, Tucker got caught up in one of the many incidents when a car spun and made contact with the right rear of the No. 27 machine. The contact caused enough damage to force Tucker to the pits for the rest of the night. Tucker rebounded nicely at Greenbush by picking up a heat race win and finishing sixth in the feature.
