(August 1, 2018) – It was another busy weekend for the NLSA Lightning Sprints with three events scheduled over two days. The action began Friday at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D.

A solid field of 15 Lightning Sprints were checked in at the high-banked three-tenths mile bullring. By night’s end, Kelsi Pederson would claim her third win of the season. Pederson started on the pole and grabbed the early lead over Presley Truedson.

The East Grand Forks, Minn. opened up a somewhat comfortable lead and was never seriously challenged as she picked up her second career win at River Cities. Truedson, Zak Kwiatkoski, Mike Schmiedeberg and Alan Truscinski rounded out the top five.

On Saturday, the NLSA drivers had two options where they could race. Buffalo River Race Park held a rare Saturday event for their Fan Appreciation night as Greenbush Race Park ran their weekly program as normal.

The Truscinski’s stole the show during the feature up in Greenbush. Both Alan and Alex drove from the third row to contend for the win. Alex drove from the fifth starting position to take the lead on lap four. His father, Alan, made his way up to second on lap 11 of the 15-lap feature. Alex went on to claim the win by just over 1.5 seconds for record his third consecutive win at Greenbush. Alan Truscinski finished second as Mike Schmiedeberg, Mark Williams and Lawrence Veralrud rounded out the top five.

Despite a slim field of cars down at Buffalo River Race Park, the racing was very good. Two of the NLSA’s best, Zak Kwiatkoski and Josh Abrahamson battled for the lead in the feature. Kwiatkoski jumped out to the early lead, but Abrahamson was hot on his heels. At the midway point, Kwiatkoski was able to stretch out his advantage over Abrahamson as he went on to collect his third win of the season at the semi-banked quarter-mile oval.

The NLSA Lightning Sprints will return to their two home tracks this weekend. They will be at Greenbush Race Park on Saturday and Buffalo River Race Park on Sunday.
