RECAP: Strand Records Second Consecutive Win at Norman County Raceway!

By Spieker Promotions

PORTLAND, N.D. (August 2, 2018) – There’s no doubt Jason Strand has found his groove in his No. E85 IMCA Modified. The Portland, N.D. driver wheeled his way to his second consecutive feature win last Thursday night at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn.

Strand took the lead in the early going of the feature after starting on the outside of the front row.

“We went into the corner with [Jamie] Trautner, but he got a little snug and I crossed over and got underneath him. I shot out of turn two and kept on rolling after that. I just had to hit my marks. The car was fast,” said Strand.

In the closing laps, a hard-charging Tyler Peterson erased what was a two-second lead to just a half second.

“Toward the end of the race, you don’t know how far ahead you are and you don’t know where everybody else is running. But I never saw or heard anybody so I just kept doing what I was doing,” said Strand.

Peterson closed to within three car lengths on the final lap, but Strand held on to claim the win.

Strand also won his heat race earlier in the night to complete the clean sweep.

On Friday, the E85 Racing team checked in at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo. Strand looked poised to capture another feature win, but ultimately had to settle for a third-place finish.

“I had a pretty big lead before the first caution came out,” Strand explained. “Then I left them again, but the car kept getting tighter as the race went on. I made a mistake and changed my line. I pushed up the track and Dale [Kraling] and Tyler [Peterson] both got by me. Those guys were too fast and I couldn’t get back up to them. I’ll still take a third-place finish though.”

The third-place effort marked Strand’s first podium finish at Red River Valley Speedway this season.

Both Norman County Raceway and Red River Valley Speedway are off this week. Red River Valley Speedway returns to action on Wednesday, August 8th. Norman County Raceway follows with racing Thursday, August 9th.

Jason and the entire E85 Racing team would like to thank all their sponsors for their continued support!
