Runner-up Finish Highlights Nygaard’s Roller Coaster Weekend
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 8, 2018) – Wade Nygaard and the Auto Finance Super Center team were back in action last weekend at River Cities Speedway on Friday night and Devils Lake Speedway on Saturday.
What appeared to be a promising night on Friday took a turn for the worse early in the feature as Nygaard clipped his spinning Auto Finance Super Center teammate Brendan Mullen. Both drivers got upside down in the incident and both were okay. The crew made repairs to Nygaard’s machine under the red, but missed rejoining the field by a matter of seconds.
On Saturday, Nygaard returned to Devils Lake Speedway with the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints. Nygaard began the night by picking up his second heat race win of the weekend, which put him outside of row three for the feature.
The nine-time and defending NOSA champion and current series point leader moved his way up to second by lap three of the 25-lap feature. Nygaard ran right behind leader Jade Hastings for the remainder of the event. In the second half of the race, the track began to take rubber, which made passing extremely difficult.
With the runner-up finish, Nygaard collected his 21st top five of the season.
Nygaard will be back in action this Friday at River Cities Speedway for a non-points NOSA show.
