Seng Collects First NLRA Win of 2018 at Red River Valley Speedway

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 22, 2018) – Brad Seng returned to victory lane with the Northern Late Model Racing Association on Saturday night, August 18th, at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, N.D after going 364 days since his last NLRA win.

The three-time and defending NLRA champion is now tied with Dustin Strand atop the point standings heading into this weekend’s event at Greenbush Race Park in Greenbush, Minn.

Seng’s last NLRA win came on August 17th, 2017 at Devils Lake Speedway. To get back to victory lane, Seng had to top one of the best drivers in dirt track racing; Donny Schatz.

Schatz and Seng shared the front row for the 25-lap feature. Schatz got the jump at the green flag and led the first four circuits until Seng took the point using the low side of the speedway. Seng held the top spot until Schatz, who later went on to win the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series race that night, found a groove on the high side and got back by Seng.

Undeterred, Seng remained loyal to the bottom and set his sights back on the nine-time and defending World of Outlaws champion. In the closing laps, Seng and Schatz engaged in a thrilling fight for the lead. The two veteran drivers traded the top spot lap after lap before Seng ultimately won the battle amid lapped traffic.

Seng pulled away in the final laps to score his series-leading 36th career NLRA victory.

On Friday night, the NLRA Late Models also co-headlined the program at River Cities Speedway with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars. Seng won his heat race and started on the pole for the 25-lap feature, but took the checkers in the fourth position.
