Steven Richards collects first career Wells Concrete Street Stock win at The Bullring
GRAND FORKS, ND (August 3, 2018) – The Wells Concrete WISSOTA Street Stocks were 24 cars strong for their 15-lap main event. Jeremy Castro took the lead on the opening lap over fellow front row starter and Street Stock rookie, Blake Anderson. John Halvorson moved by Anderson for second on lap three, while James Meagher, Chase Boen and Anderson raced three wide for the final podium position.
On the restart, Castro led Halvorson and Steven Richards. After running door-to-door for several laps, Richards finally cleared Halvorson for second. The final caution of the event flew with three laps remaining.
Halvorson’s machine slowed on the restart, ruining his solid effort. Richards led at the American Ag Radio Network Flagstand with two circuits to go. Castro remained alongside of Richards on the final lap. The two almost made contact in the final set of corners, which forced Castro to tap the brakes. That’s all Richards needed to claim his first career River Cities Speedway win.
