Austin Pierce Rallies for Runner-up Finish in Blazin’ Challenge at River Cities

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (September 11, 2018) – On paper, the results show a solid run for Austin Pierce, advancing from sixth to second. In reality, however, Pierce had to pass as many cars as anybody during Friday’s Blazin’ Challenge main event at River Cities Speedway with the NOSA Sprints.

Pierce quickly raced his way into the second position behind Shane Roemeling, but he hooked a rut in turn one, which sent the Opp Construction / Lithia Ford No. 2A off the track in turn two and brought out the caution. Pierce had to restart at the tail of the field and worked his way back into the top five in just 16 laps.

The two-time and defending NOSA champion moved back into third with seven laps remaining in the 30-lap feature and got by Jade Hastings on lap 27 to claim second.

Next up will be season championship night for the NOSA Sprints and River Cities Speedway. Entering the night, Pierce holds a slim one point lead over Wade Nygaard in the River Cities Speedway track standings. Pierce is a three-time and defending River Cities track champion. While the Grand Forks driver is still looking for his first victory of the season at the three-tenths mile bullring, Pierce has collected nine top five and 11 top 10s in 14 races at River Cities.
