Grosz Wins at Rock Rapids, Claims 2018 MSTS 360 Championship
HARWOOD, N.D. (September 19, 2018) – At the beginning of the year, the Lee Grosz Racing team set out to win more races than they did in 2017 and win the MSTS 360 championship. On Friday night at Rapid Speedway in Rock Rapids, Iowa, Grosz checked off both of those goals.
Grosz swept the night by winning both the MSTS feature and championship.
“That was our goal all season,” said Grosz of his championship run with the MSTS 360s. “As long as we were up front in the points, we were going to keep chasing it. We didn’t get quite as many wins as we would have liked, but we were consistently in the top three and top five. It feels good to end the points season with a win.”
In the heat race, Grosz started fourth and quickly moved into the second spot.
“The leader was running the middle groove and I was able to sneak by him to take the lead, then held off Eric Lutz to get the win,” said Grosz.
Grosz finally shook his bad luck at redraws thanks to his crew guy, Jordan. The Harwood, N.D. driver rolled off inside of row two for the season finale feature.
“I got to second right away at the start. Lutz was out in the lead,” explained Grosz. “About five or six laps in, I moved up to the top and just tried to get the top rolled in. He was running the bottom and I figured if I was going to win it, I had to get going on the top.”
Grosz used a restart to move by Lutz to take the lead on lap 12.
“I just hit my marks up top from there,” said Grosz.
Grosz went on to take the win by over two seconds. The win was Grosz’s third at Rapid Speedway in the four MSTS events held there in 2018. In the only race Grosz didn’t win, he was leading the feature when an oil line blew, ending his night.
Lee and the entire team would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support!
