“We threw something completely new at the car Saturday and things actually went decent,” said Adams. “If it wasn’t for a late race restart, I think we would have come home with a runner-up finish. The joys of double-file restarts!”
Adams ran inside the top five all race long and found himself in the second spot with six laps remaining. However, Adams slipped back on the final restart on lap 19 of 25 and had to settle for fourth at the checkers.
The fourth-place finish tied Adams’ best result at Devils Lake this season. He also finished fourth on May 26th.
This Friday is the biggest event of the season for the NOSA Sprints. It’s the fourth annual Buffalo Wild Wings Blazin’ Challenge at River Cities Speedway, which boasts an $8,200 payday to win it from the back row. Adams is qualified for the dash, which will determine the drivers who will have the opportunity to start at the tail of the field for the 30-lap feature.
“Just have to look at it as another race. It’s not very often we get to race for some bigger money so it will be exciting,” said Adams. “We did what we needed to and locked ourselves in the dash so now we have a chance at some money depending on if we start in the back or not.”
The green flag drops at 7pm on Friday night.
Adams was also in action at River Cities Speedway on Friday, August 31st. The driver of the Home of Economy / DEKALB No. 20A won his heat race and was scheduled to start eighth in the feature, but rain and lightning forced the postponement of the event. It will be made up on Friday, September 14th.
