Dobmeier set to make first Australian appearance since 2007

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (December 11, 2018) – For the second time in his career and the first time since 2007, Mark Dobmeier will be racing in a foreign country, albeit in a familiar seat. Dobmeier and Australian-based Kendrick Racing have teamed up once again to run this year’s USA vs Western Australia (WA) Sprint Car Speedweek.

“I’ve wanted to go back to Australia several times since my first visit in 2007 and have been in contact with Geoff Kendrick ever since,” said Dobmeier. “This year, it finally worked out where Kendrick Racing needed a driver for basically a two-week stint. We are both eager to get back together, go do some sprint car racing and have some fun.”

Dobmeier will compete in four races down under, beginning at Perth Motorplex on Wednesday, December 26th and Collie Speedway on Thursday, December 27th. Dobmeier will return to action on Saturday, December 29th at Perth, before wrapping up the USA vs. WA Sprint Car Speedweek on Tuesday, January 1st at Bunbury Speedway.

The Grand Forks native has three career wins in Australia with Kendrick Racing, with two coming at Avon Valley Speedway in Northam and one at Esperance Speedway in Esperance.

“We had a blast the last time I was over there. I was down there for about three months and raced all over Australia,” Dobmeier recalled. “At that point in my life and racing career, it was a huge opportunity for me to travel across the world and race a sprint car. Kendrick Racing treated me first class all the way last time. I’m looking forward to getting back down there and getting to race with Jason Kendrick.”

When asked of his goals heading into the WA Speedweek, Dobmeier made it simple. “Four races, four wins,” he said with a chuckle. “Geoff has top-notch equipment and they have a great setup. The last time I was there, Jason was just starting his racing career and he’s really progressed into one of the top drivers now. I think we have a good chance to be a contender and do some damage down there and maybe come away with a couple of wins.”

Dobmeier has recorded 12 wins and 15 top fives in 33 starts in 2018, including a runner-up finish with the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series at his home track, River Cities Speedway. Dobmeier will look to claim his 250th career victory in Australia. He enters the WA Speedweek with 248 A-main wins.
