FARGO, N.D. (March 29, 2019) – After a weekend off due to rainy conditions, the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series returns to action tonight and tomorrow. The doubleheader weekend kicks off at Keller Auto Speedway at Kings Fairgrounds in Hanford, Calif. on Friday night, followed by the SoCal Showdown at Perris Auto Speedway in Perris, Calif. on Saturday. Both tracks haven’t hosted the World of Outlaws since 2017.
Donny Schatz has one career win at the Hanford, Calif. one-third mile oval, which came on April 12th, 2013 after he led 24 laps in the main event. In his most recent visit in 2017, the Fargo, N.D. driver wheeled his way from the 21st starting position to round out the podium. In 14 previous starts at Keller Auto Speedway, Schatz has an average finish of seventh.
Perris Auto Speedway on the other hand is one of the few tracks on the World of Outlaws circuit at which Schatz has yet to win. However, the 10-time and defending series champion has six top five finishes at the semi-banked half-mile in his last 10 starts. Over that same stretch, he has an average finish of 6.7.
Entering the weekend, Schatz is a mere four markers behind points leader Daryn Pittman. Schatz is tied among the series leaders in top fives with five through the first seven races and he is the only driver who has finished inside the top 10 in every event thus far.
The “Greatest Show on Dirt” was last in action on March 15-16 at Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, Calif. and the Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton, Calif. respectively. Schatz opened the weekend with an impressive drive from 13th to fourth at Silver Dollar. He followed that up with an eighth-place effort on a very tricky surface at Stockton.
DirtVision.com will have live audio and video of both events this weekend.
