SEASON PREVIEW: Nygaard Motorsports ready for another big season of racing
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (April 4, 2019) – The 2019 racing season will be Wade Nygaard’s 29th behind the wheel of a Sprint Car. The Grand Forks driver collected an unprecedented 10th Buffalo Wild Wings Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA) championship last season and was the River Cities Speedway 410 Sprint Car co-champion.
Similar to past years, the Nygaard Motorsports crew is geared up for another big schedule of both 360 and 410 racing across the upper Midwest.
The season kicks off this weekend with a Nebraska 360 doubleheader at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. It’s been two years since Nygaard has competed at the fast four-tenths mile oval. Nygaard recorded an 11th and fifth-place finish, respectively, in his most recent visit in 2017.
“It’s a really fun, high-speed race track. It’s one of the faster tracks we go to,” said Nygaard. “I actually like starting out the year at I-80 because it’s just such a fun place. The track can get wide and racy.”
Following this weekend, the rest of the schedule for April is still up in the air. The plan is to hit as many 360 and 410 events before racing starts up at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.
Once the season gets going in the Red River Valley, the Auto Finance Super Center team will turn their focus to running the majority, if not all, of the NOSA and River Cities schedule. However, with several Saturday nights open this year, Nygaard said that gives the team the opportunity to get out and do some traveling.
“I’m really excited about getting our season going. I was in the gym and worked out all winter again so the body and mind are ready for another season,” said Nygaard.
