Wade Nygaard hard charges to sixth place finish with the Neb. 360s!

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (April 10, 2019) – Wade Nygaard and the Auto Finance Super Center team unloaded at I-80 Speedway last weekend with a new look aboard the No. 9N to kick off their 2019 season. By weekend’s end, the 10-time and defending Northern Outlaw Sprint Association champion appeared to be in midseason form.

Nygaard started the weekend on Friday, April 5th with a fourth-place run in his heat, which mired him back in 13th for the start of the Nebraska 360 main event. Nygaard picked off a few positions at the start of the feature, but ultimately got collected in an incident by another car, which brought his night to an end.

“We drew a big number for the heat on the second night and I think we were just a little too tight to make any moves,” he said. “We made a couple more changes for the B-main and got a little bit better. We learned from that and the boys and I talked it over, made a change for the feature, and definitely went in the right direction.”

That direction was forward in the Saturday night feature. Nygaard rounded out the field in the 20th starting position for the 25-lapper, but didn’t stay back there long. “We found the speed we were needing. The feature was really fun. Starting 20th and passing that many cars on our way to the front was really exciting.”

Nygaard cracked the top five in the final stages of the feature, slipped back to sixth on the final restart, but still claimed the hard charger award by passing 14 cars. “It was a long winter so a good run like that was a great way to kick off our season,” he said.

Next up, the Nygaard Motorsports team will head to Park Jefferson Speedway in North Sioux City, S.D. for the $10,000-to-win South Dakota Sprint Car Nationals, co-sanctioned by the Carpetland Nebraska 360 Sprint Series presented by Malvern Bank and the MSTS 360s.

Nygaard made the starting field for the championship feature in last year’s inaugural event and came home with a ninth-place finish.

Wade and the entire crew would like to thank their great sponsors for their continued support!
