Brian VanMeveren Eager For Eldora Debut Following Vicious Incident

PITTSBORO, Ind. (April 30, 2019) – It was no less than two and a half weeks ago when Brian VanMeveren was making his first-ever visit to Bloomington Speedway in Bloomington, Ind. with the AMSOIL USAC National Sprint Car tour when he took a scary ride during time trials.

VanMeveren’s Wingo Brother’s Racing No. 24 bicycled in turn three before slamming back down on the racing surface, which sent his machine flipping wildly off the track. The safety crew arrived within seconds and VanMeveren walked away from the incident without serious injury.

Now, VanMeveren is chomping at the bit to get back behind the wheel.

“I’m pretty much back to 100 percent and I’m really excited to get back in the car and get some redemption. I want to thank everyone for the well wishes after the wreck. It meant a lot to have so many people reach out,” said VanMeveren. “We’ve got a new car ready to go. It’s the car that Kevin Thomas won the Oval Nationals with. We stripped it down and powder coated it. It’s fresh and ready to go.”

VanMeveren doesn’t plan on easing back into the seat. The St. Paul, Minn. driver will return to action at the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio with the USAC National Sprint Car tour on May 10th and 11th.

“I’m hoping to get out there, make some laps, and punch my ticket into the A-main,” he said of his goals for his Eldora debut.

After his first month of action this season, VanMeveren is pleased with how his performance has been.

“We’ve got a fast car and I know we are capable of running with the USAC guys. It’s just a matter of getting experience and getting a consistent crew behind me. It’s about getting consistency within our program and getting laps in,” he said.

Following Eldora, VanMeveren will be following the USAC National tour to Indiana’s Terre Haute Action Track on May 22nd.

VanMeveren would like to thank all of his sponsors for their continued support!
