Dobmeier Dominates River Cities Speedway Opener

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 22, 2019) – For the 13th time in his career, Mark Dobmeier raced to the opening night win at River Cities Speedway. Dobmeier started on the outside of the front row for the 25-lap Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car feature, and led 22 trips around the high-banked three-tenths mile oval en route to his 13th win as a car owner.

There was a close call on the opening lap as Dobmeier and Roemeling made contact in turn one.

“Roemeling got the jump on the start and slid up in front of me. I knew the first corner was my best chance so I gave him a big slider. It was a big River Cities slider and at the end of the day there are two pedals in each car,” said Dobmeier of the lap one incident in victory lane. “I race everybody hard and I would never dirty anybody.”

Several cautions plagued the feature. Dobmeier had a couple of challenges on restarts in the form of Brendan Mullen on lap eight and Wade Nygaard on lap 12. Nygaard was able to take the lead momentarily, but Dobmeier was able to track him down to regain the point on lap 16.

“On the last restart, I think my experience in rubbered up tracks paid off and I was able to sneak by and get the lead again,” said Dobmeier.

Once out front, Dobmeier pulled away from the rest of the field as he cruised to the win.

This weekend, Dobmeier and Team 13 Racing will return to River Cities Speedway before heading to Buffalo River Race Park (BRRP) in Glyndon, Minn. on Sunday with the NOSA Sprints. Last year, Dobmeier claimed his first career win at BRRP after a great battle for the lead with Chris Ranten. Racing starts at 7pm at River Cities and 6pm at Buffalo River.

Mark and the entire Team 13 Racing crew would like to thank all their sponsors for their support!
