Wade Nygaard Collects Career Win No. 273 at Cedar Lake Speedway

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 8, 2019) – For years, Wade Nygaard has said Cedar Lake Speedway is one of his favorite race tracks. On Saturday night with the Midwest Power Series 360 Sprint Cars, he proved exactly why.

The 10-time and defending NOSA Sprint Car champion powered into the race lead on the feature’s only restart on lap 10. Nygaard navigated around the outside of Ryan Bowers in turns one and two before taking the point from Chase Viebrock on the low side in turns three and four.

“Just before the restart, we were starting to work pretty well on the high side and getting out of the corner nicely,” said Nygaard in victory lane. “On the restart, we just got lucky and got the lead. After that, I slid in lower and felt a little bit of rubber so I started getting lower and lower in the corners. I’ve got to thank Lee, Jeff, Neil and Todd. It was 100 percent my crew tonight.”

Once out front, Nygaard cruised out to a comfortable 1.6 second lead and took the checkers unchallenged.

The win was Nygaard’s first of the season and first at Cedar Lake since April 22nd, 2017. The Nygaard Motorsports team only made one visit to the three-eighths mile oval in 2018.

Nygaard and the No. 9N team tentatively plan on running either Park Jefferson Speedway or Knoxville Raceway on Saturday – weather permitting, of course.
