Wade Nygaard Looks Ahead to Midwest Power Series Double Header This Weekend

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 1, 2019) – The 2019 Nygaard Motorsports season will roll east this coming weekend to Princeton Speedway in Princeton, Minn. on Friday and Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wis. on Saturday. Both events will be Midwest Power Series events offering $3,000-to-win each night.

“I’m super excited for this weekend. Princeton is a fun little track. I haven’t raced there very much over the years, but I’m looking forward to getting back there,” said Nygaard. “Cedar Lake is one of my favorite tracks and the forecast is looking better and better for both nights.”

Nygaard made one appearance at Cedar Lake Speedway last season in his Auto Finance Super Center 360c.i. Sprint Car, coming away with a solid seventh-place finish. In two appearances to the legendary three-eighths mile in 2017, the Grand Forks, N.D. driver finished first and second, respectively.

Friday’s event at Princeton will mark Nygaard’s first race there since Oct. 6th, 2007 with the World of Outlaws.

This past weekend, Nygaard made two starts with the Lucas Oil American Sprint Car Series. Racing kicked off on Thursday at Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Nebraska. Wade had a good run going in the heat until he hooked a rut in turn three and nearly flipped his No. 9N machine. Nygaard managed to keep it on all fours, but with passing points being so crucial, that ended his hopes of transferring to the feature.

The ‘B’ wasn’t kind to Nygaard either. Nygaard got a good jump on the first two attempts at a start, but got held up in traffic on the third. The field quickly got strung out on the tacky and narrow racing surface as Nygaard took the checkers in sixth.

With Park Jefferson’s South Dakota Sprint Car Nationals being canceled, Nygaard followed the ASCS to US 36 Raceway in Osborn, Missouri on Friday. A second place run in his heat solidly locked the 10-time NOSA champion into the main event and the redraw.

When the A-main got underway, Nygaard jumped into the lead over Roger Crockett and Scott Bogucki. Nygaard led the first handful of circuits but ultimately came home with a 13th place finish.

Despite leading laps early, Nygaard wasn’t pleased with the result. “If we could go back and do it over again, I know what we would need to do to stay up front,” he said.

Wade and the entire crew would like to thank their great sponsors for their continued support!
