HARWOOD, N.D. (June 11, 2019) – It’s been no secret that Lee Grosz has had a great start to the 2019 season. In five starts at two of the toughest tracks in the upper Midwest, Jackson Motorplex and Knoxville Raceway, Grosz has four top 10 finishes, including three podiums. Earlier this year, the Harwood, N.D. driver was leading the Knoxville Raceway 360 point.

That speed looked as though it was going to continue at Jackson Motorplex on Friday night. Grosz had charged from ninth to second in his heat race before trouble ensued.

“I pulled a slide job going for second and the driver tried to do a crossover and his right rear drove over my left rear and climbed the whole side of my car,” recalled Grosz. “We both went spinning and backed into the fence.

“Luckily we had the new safety bar on the left side. If that wasn’t there, I’m guessing his car might have gotten inside my cockpit. The bar is dinged up, but it did its job,” said Grosz.

The Lee Grosz Racing team will take this weekend off to gear up for a big three-race swing the following weekend.

One of Grosz’s three podium finishes on the year came on May 31st at Jackson Motorplex. Grosz raced to both a heat and dash win before contending for the feature win later in the evening.

“I just hit the holes wrong and hit lapped traffic wrong, but we were good all night,” he said. Grosz came away with a second-place finish at the checkers.

The following night at Knoxville, Grosz raced to a strong sixth-place finish in the feature.

“We ran second in the heat and led most of the dash before finishing second. We started on the front row for the feature and finished sixth, which was disappointing, but it was still a good night. We’ve been pretty consistent there so that gives us a little confidence for the next time we go back there,” said Grosz.

Lee and the entire team would like to thank all of their sponsors for their continued support!
