Kelsi Pederson’s River Cities Triumph Highlights Wild Weekend

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (June 27, 2019) – The NLSA Lightning Sprints had a big three-race swing this past weekend. Kelsi Pederson kicked things off by parking her No. 93 machine in victory lane Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.

Kelsi began the night by picking up a heat race win, which put her on the pole for the 15-lap feature. The defending NLSA champion got into the lead right away on the opening lap of the feature and went on to lead every lap around the high-banked three-tenths mile oval.

Alex Truscinski closed in on Kelsi in the closing laps, but Kelsi held on to pick up her second career win live on Midco Sports Network.

“I knew that the start would be the key to the race because it was pretty much a hammer down track,” she said in victory lane. “From there it was just a matter of keeping my momentum up and getting through lapped cars.”

The win was Pederson’s first of the season.

On Saturday, the NLSA Lightning Sprints headed west to Devils Lake Speedway. Unfortunately, Kelsi’s night was cut short as the powerplant under the hood of her Henchcraft expired in a big way a couple of laps into the heat race. Flames shot out from under the hood, but they were quickly extinguished and Kelsi was okay.

The crew went to work getting a new motor put in for Sunday’s finale at River Cities and made it to the track just in time for the races. In the main event, Kelsi had a strong run and drove from seventh to round out the podium in third.

Joey came into Sunday’s action at River Cities Speedway as the Late Model point leader in the track standings. Unfortunately, an ignition box failure at the start of the feature prevented him from starting.

Tucker had his best River Cities outing of the season to date on Friday night. Tucker led the first handful of circuits in the feature before taking the checkers with a solid fifth-place finish.

This weekend, Joey will be in action at River Cities, Tucker will be racing at both River Cities and Greenbush Race Park. Kelsi’s lone event of the weekend will be at Greenbush as well.

Joey and the entire crew would like to thank all of their great sponsors for their continued support!
