Norman County Raceway Yields Career Win No. 274 for Nygaard!
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (June 27, 2019) – The Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints’ four-race weekend was trimmed to just two as Mother Nature washed out the two scheduled events in South Dakota on Saturday and Sunday. Still, the Nygaard Motorsports team was able to get three races in, two with NOSA and one with the Midwest Power Series.
The action kicked off Thursday, June 20th at Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn. After picking up a heat race win, Wade Nygaard started on the pole for the 25-lap feature. Nygaard led every lap around the high-banked three-eighths mile oval en route to his second NOSA win of the season and third overall.
“We did well in our heat and the redraw went our way so we were able to start on the pole. The car had a lot of speed, but we all know it was follow the leader and I don’t know that if somebody was in front of me, if I would have had a good enough car to get around them or not,” said Nygaard of the racing surface, which took rubber five laps into the race. “It was a fun night. Ada is a fun track.”
The win was Nygaard’s 274th of his career.
The following night, the NOSA Sprints were at River Cities Speedway and live to racing fans across the Midwest on cable TV via Midco Sports Network. Nygaard was mired in the 10th starting position for the 25-lap main event, but didn’t stay back there long. The 10-time and defending NOSA champion charged his way forward to record a third place finish and ran as high as second at one point during the race.
On Saturday, Nygaard made his Ogilvie Raceway debut with the Midwest Power Series.
“We made the car a little bit better from the heat to the feature. We were getting better and better towards the end of the feature but just kind of ran out of laps,” he said. “It was a pretty wide open race track and kind of hard to pass, but it was a fun place.”
