Nygaard Picks Up Second Midwest Power Series Win at Cedar Lake!

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 10, 2019) – Cedar Lake Speedway has always been one of Wade Nygaard’s favorite race tracks. The 29-year racing veteran is proving exactly this season as he is a perfect two-for-two in 360 action at the high-banked three-eighths mile oval with the Midwest Power Series

Nygaard parked his Auto Finance Super Center No. 9N in victory lane on Saturday night after a hard-fought battle for the lead.

“I got out front and thought I had clear sailing. The car was working really well on top,” said Nygaard. “Then all of the sudden here comes [Chris] Graf out of nowhere. I thought I was in trouble then and had to get with it. We were about the same speed, but got lucky and got a couple of cautions. I got a good run on that last restart and was able to slide by him going into the corner.”

Once out front, Nygaard cruised to his fifth win of the season and the 276th of his career.

Nygaard also competed with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars on Friday and Saturday night at Cedar Lake.

Friday’s feature was postponed to Saturday evening after rain washed out the remainder of the night seven laps in. When the race resumed, Nygaard charged his way forward to a 15th place finish from the 23rd starting spot.

In the weekend finale, the No. 9N team didn’t have any time to make adjustments to their 410 following the 360 race. Nygaard made a few laps with an ill-handling race car before pulling into the infield early.

This weekend, Nygaard returns to Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car action. On Friday night, the team will head to River Cities Speedway, before the NOSA tour makes its annual visit to Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo.

“I’m looking forward to getting back to Fargo this weekend. I miss the old half-mile track, but the smaller one is fun to race on,” said Nygaard. “It’s always fun to get to see some family and friends that don’t get up to Grand Forks very often.”

Wade’s most recent win at Red River Valley Speedway came in 2017. Last year, he finished second.
