GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 7, 2019) – Mark Dobmeier and the Buffalo Wild Wings No. 13 team are on a roll right now heading into Sprint Car racing’s biggest event – the 59th annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals. Dobmeier claimed his fifth victory of 2019 last Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.

“River Cities had a great track. The groove was around the middle to bottom early on, then it slicked off and there was a top groove and a bottom groove,” said Dobmeier after the race. “We ran second at the start and followed Jack Croaker. Croaker was running a wild pace right away there. Then he hit turn one a little too hard and slipped off the top. We took advantage and took the lead and let it rip from there.”

Dobmeier led the final 17 circuits en route to his third River Cities Speedway win of the season. The margin of victory at the checkers was 2.238 seconds over Wade Nygaard.

“All my guys have been working hard on this thing. Wyatt, Ethan, Billy and Grant, and all the boys back here have just been pounding away to get this car working good,” said Dobmeier.

On Sunday, Dobmeier was one of 77 cars checked in at Knoxville Raceway for the Capitani Classic. After timing in ninth quick in Flight A, Dobmeier dominated his heat race. The Grand Forks, N.D. driver started and finished 11th in the 25-lap main event.

Dobmeier also made a rare appearance to Southern Iowa Speedway in Oskaloosa, Iowa for the $20,000-to-win Front Row Challenge. The driver of the Buffalo Wild Wings / Lunstra Motorsports machine timed in 13th and finished 13th in the main event from the 16th starting position.

Tonight is Dobmeier’s qualifying night for the Knoxville Nationals. Dobmeier has competed at the famed half-mile on the Marion County Fairgrounds five times in 2019 and has a best finish of 10th, which came on June 1st. Dobmeier’s most recent appearance in the championship A-main at the Nationals came in 2017 where he finished in the 12th position.
