Dobmeier Eyes Elusive World of Outlaws Win at River Cities Following Solid Knoxville Nationals

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 16, 2019) – One year ago, Mark Dobmeier put on one of the most exciting performances seen at a World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series event at River Cities Speedway. The all-time River Cities Speedway wins leader charged from 17th to finish a close second to Donny Schatz as North Dakota drivers finished one-two.

Tonight, Dobmeier and the Buffalo Wild Wings No. 13 team have another shot at the Outlaws in their backyard.

“We’ve definitely been learning a lot over the course of the season. We’ve been finding some speed as of late so I’m hoping we can have a little bit better track than we had last time and hopefully get this thing qualified decent to start the night,” said Dobmeier. “My goal is to get started somewhere in the top eight for the feature and let the racing take over from there.”

In his last visit to River Cities on August 2nd, Dobmeier raced his way to victory lane with the NOSA Sprints for the third time this season at the three-tenths mile bullring and the fifth time overall in 2019.

One of those five wins on the season came at the track the Outlaws will be racing at on Saturday night – Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo.

“I’m looking forward to having some fun in Fargo. It’s a really wide track so there is plenty of room for racing and passing,” said Dobmeier.

Last weekend, Dobmeier was at the Sprint Car Capital of the World for the 59th annual NOS Energy Drink Knoxville Nationals. After finishing fourth in the A-main on his preliminary night, Dobmeier was locked into the fifth starting position for Saturday’s B-Main.

“Rico (Abreu) got out on me a few car lengths to start the B, then I started to slowly reel him in. Then he changed his line and got away from me again. Everybody was just kind of going the same speed and nobody could really make any moves. Overall, we felt really good. We had a really solid car. Every time we hit the track, we were either moving forward or maintaining and things were working good.”
