FROM WORST TO FIRST: Pierce Comes From Last Row to Win Fourth River Cities Feature

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 15, 2019) – Austin Pierce and the Dahlstrom Motors/InVision Ag No. 2A team returned to victory lane on Friday night and collected their fourth feature win at River Cities Speedway.

Pierce began the night by moving from eighth to sixth in his heat, putting him deep in the feature lineup. That didn’t stop the Austin Pierce Racing crew from doing what they do best though. Quietly, Pierce moved his way from the 15th starting position out of 16 cars to challenge Wade Nygaard for the lead on lap 18. Pierce quickly caught and passed Nygaard to claim the top spot and checked out. Pierce took the win by 1.279 seconds over Nygaard.

“I got by Shane (Roemeling) on a restart and I was catching Wade and caught up to him pretty quick. I found a little strip of moisture that I was really getting a hold of. I got alongside him on the front straightaway and gave him a slide job in turns one and two and got by him,” explained Pierce of his pass for the lead. “I was expecting him to come back, but luckily he didn’t.”

After picking up three consecutive wins, the streak was broken on August 2nd after Pierce got upside down in the feature. Pierce’s win on Friday puts him in the lead for the most Sprint Car wins so far this season at the Bullring.

This weekend, Pierce will battle against the best in Sprint Car Racing. The World of Outlaw NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars travel to River Cities Speedway for the second time this year on Friday night. During the first visit, Pierce moved from eighth to finish fifth in his heat and had to settle for 22nd in the feature.
