Nygaard Collects NOSA Win at Dacotah, Looks Ahead to River Cities Tonight!

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 2, 2019) – Wade Nygaard recorded his 277th career feature win on Saturday night at
Dacotah Speedway in Mandan, N.D. with the Buffalo Wild WingsNorthern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA) Sprints. Tonight, the 10-time NOSA champion returns to action at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.

The NOSA doubleheader last weekend at Dacotah Speedway started on Friday night, where Nygaard had a shot at the win in the closing stages of the feature. The driver of the Auto Finance Super Center No. 9N took the lead from Mark Dobmeier on the final restart of the 25-lap race, but Dobmeier was able to reclaim the spot. Nygaard went on to finish second at the checkers.

The following night, Nygaard was the class of the field. Nygaard grabbed the early lead from the pole to start the feature and raced out to a comfortable lead. With nine of 25 laps complete, Dobmeier put a slide job on Nygaard to take the lead momentarily, but Nygaard crossed over to reclaim the spot.

With five laps to go, Dobmeier reeled in and passed Nygaard once again. The final caution flew with three laps to go. On the restart, Nygaard rode in the tire tracks until he executed a slide job in turns one and two to take the lead from Dobmeier. Dobmeier got the right side wheels off the track trying to get back around Nygaard, which allowed Nygaard to extend his lead. From there, Nygaard cruised to his second career Dacotah Speedway win.

“I made a bad decision in lapped traffic and Mark was able to get by me,” said Nygaard. “The only way I was going to get by him was for him to get held up in lapped traffic, then the caution came out. I got a run on him on the restart and was able to get back by him. I’m glad there weren’t any more restarts after that.”

With the win, Nygaard was crowned the 2019 Governor’s Cup champion for the second year in a row.

Action tonight at River Cities Speedway kicks off at 6:30 with hot laps, followed by time trials at 6:45 and racing at 7:00pm!
