Nygaard Claims Victory at BRRP & Heat Win in Non-Wing Debut!

NGRAND FORKS, N.D. (September 6, 2019) – Wade Nygaard picked up career win No. 278 over Labor Day weekend with his Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car victory at Buffalo River Race Park in Glyndon, Minn.

It took a last lap pass on Jade Hastings to secure the lead and take the win.

“That was a super fun race. In the beginning, we weren’t very fast. I just had to calm down and figure out where my car was working the best. I think the faster lane was actually where Jade was running. When you’re in second you just have to move around and try something. I could have run in his line around the bottom, but I just would have followed him to the finish and he wasn’t going to make a mistake,” said Nygaard.

The pass for the lead got tight out of turn two as Hastings and Nygaard fought for the same real estate on the high side of the speedway. Nygaard’s momentum was the difference as he squeezed by Hastings to take the lead down the back stretch.

“I tried extra hard on that last lap and it could have went either way. I could have slid off the top and he could have kept going or it could have worked out the way it did. Luckily it worked out in my favor,” he said.

The win for Nygaard was his fourth with the NOSA Sprints at BRRP.

On Friday night at River Cities Speedway, Nygaard made his non-wing Sprint Car debut with the Northern Renegade Sprint Series. Making his first-ever laps without a set of wings, Nygaard quickly adapted to the different feel. Nygaard started last night in his heat, but sliced his way through the field to claim the heat win.

“That was an absolute blast. I can’t wait to do it again if possible somewhere, sometime. The only way I can explain it is if you’ve ever been in an open parking lot with a little bit of snow and you’re just sliding around. It feels like the same thing. There is just no traction whatsoever. Just slide around and have fun. It’s great.”

In NOSA competition on Friday night, Nygaard took the checkers in fifth. Nygaard did not run the non-wing feature.

Next up, Nygaard and the Auto Finance Super Center team returns to action tonight at River Cities Speedway for the NOSA event as a part of the John Seitz Memorial. On Saturday, the team will head to Cedar Lake Speedway to run with the Midwest Power Series.

Wade and the entire crew would like to thank their great sponsors for their continued support!
