Pierce Closes In on River Cities Speedway Sprint Car Points Lead
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (September 6, 2019) – Just two Sprint Car events remain at River Cities Speedway this season and the race for the track championship is starting to heat up.
Austin Pierce enters tonight’s Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Car event second in the track standings, just 27 points behind leader Nick Omdahl. Pierce has a division-leading nine top-five finishes at the Bullring this year, backed by four wins – tied for the most to date.
Pierce’s last win at River Cities Speedway came on August 9th, which was a non-points paying event as it conflicted with the Knoxville Nationals. His last points-paying victory came on July 19th, which completed a hat trick of wins for the Grand Forks driver.
Last Friday night, Pierce began the night strong by winning his heat race. In the 25-lap feature, the defending River Cities Speedway co-champion started and finished in the third position.
Tonight’s event is a part of the 13th annual John Seitz Memorial. The races start at 7pm. Fans can stream the races on watchfye.com.
