Coming off win, Fredrickson excited for USSA opener
THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. (January 3, 2020) – Dalton Fredrickson kicked off his 2019/2020 campaign with a win with the Canadian Power Toboggan Championship (CPTC) series in Beausejour, MB on December 8th.
Fredrickson claimed his first checkered flag of the season in Pro Formula 500 final.
“It was great to get a win to start our season. A guy likes to think he can keep the ball rolling into the next event, but anything can happen,” said Fredrickson.
This weekend, the USSA season begins at the Ironwood Snowmobile Olympus in Ironwood, Mich. Eyeing the USSA points title this season, Fredrickson is excited to get things started at the flat, fast half-mile oval.
“Every event is big with the USSA, that’s for sure,” Fredrickson continued. “Everybody that shows up to race with USSA is fast. It’s definitely going to be one of the biggest weekends of the year, honestly. This weekend will tell us what we’re working with for the rest of the year.”
This weekend not only marks the start of the USSA season, but it is also Fredrickson’s last tune-up before the World Championship Derby in Eagle River, Wis. Fredrickson had a solid outing in his last appearance at the World Championship Derby complex last year and believes he has everything he needs to build upon that success this year.
Fredrickson will be running the entire USSA schedule this season as he continues to transition from cross country racing to ice oval. With that, he will be seeing several new tracks this season, including this weekend at Ironwood.
“So far, I think the transition to ice oval is going well, but I still have a lot of work to do myself,” he said. “We’ve been winning, but just because you are winning, doesn’t mean everything is going smooth. The sled is working great and we are getting a lot of the bugs out of it. I think we are heading in the right direction.”
Racing this weekend begins Saturday, January 4th and continues through Sunday, January 5th.
