Dobmeier excited to open 2020 season at Jackson Motorplex this weekend

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 14, 2020) – Mark Dobmeier and the Buffalo Wild Wings / Lunstra Motorsports team is eagerly awaiting their first night of action in 2020. Their season will kick off at the Great Lakes Shootout at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minnesota with the Bumper-to-Bumper IRA Sprints tomorrow, May 15th and Saturday, May 16th. A rain date on Sunday is scheduled if needed. An incredibly stout field of 75 410 Sprint Cars are pre-registered for the event.

“This weekend is obviously going to be a tough show. We were talking about that at the shop the other night. It could be more competitive than a qualifying night at the Knoxville Nationals. A qualifying night at the Nationals is one of the toughest races of the year, but there you only have around 50-60 cars. There’s over 70 registered for this weekend and a lot of teams are strong enough to win it. It’s going to be a great night of racing to watch, that’s for sure.”

In Dobmeier’s most recent visit to Jackson in September, he recorded a pair of heat wins and podium finishes with the IRA sprints.

“We’ve had a lot of laps around Jackson, but that track has gone through a few changes over recent years. When they shortened it up, it changed the whole dynamic of the track. The first couple of times there I seemed to struggle, but the last few times we were there, we’ve picked up a lot of speed.

“My interpretation of it is it’s a mini Knoxville Raceway. It’s very flat and wide and it races similar to Knoxville. It just doesn’t have the longer straightaways. But it’s an absolutely gorgeous facility from the grandstands, it’s a tremendous atmosphere for the fans; obviously, we won’t have any fans there this weekend, but it’s a tremendous facility.”

Dobmeier was scheduled to open his season with the World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Cars in Arizona in April, however, those events were postponed due to the pandemic. Since then, the team has been putting in extra hours in the shop making sure everything is ready for when racing resumes.

“I think our team is in a perfect spot right now. We’ve got great equipment underneath us, great sponsors behind us, and we’ve got the same hardworking crew that we had last year,” said Dobmeier. “Last year, we did a little regrouping and changed around a few things and I felt towards the end of the year that we had some good speed. We haven’t made any major changes over the offseason so we are just looking forward to getting this Buffalo Wild Wings car out on the track and, hopefully, ripping good right away.”

Dobmeier is the most recent 410 Sprint Car track champion at Jackson Motorplex, claiming that honor in 2017. Even though no fans are allowed at the speedway this weekend, fans can still catch all of the action live on speedshifttv.com.

Mark and the entire Team 13 Racing crew would like to thank all their sponsors for their support!
