Grosz ready for Neb. 360 weekend following runner-up finish at Jackson

HARWOOD, N.D. (June 24, 2020) – The Lee Grosz Racing team was back in action this past weekend at two of the most prestigious tracks the Midwest has to offer. The first of two events on the schedule was at Jackson Motorplex in Jackson, Minn. with the MSTS 360 Sprints.
After starting fourth in his heat, Grosz charged his way to the front to score the win. That put Harwood, N.D. native on the front row for the 25-lap feature.

“We started second in the feature, got the lead right away and led the first 15 laps,” said Grosz. “I had some trouble getting through lapped traffic and (Matt) Juhl got by us. He got through a few lapped cars better than I did after that. I was able to get clear of traffic with about three laps to go, but I didn’t have enough time to catch him.”

Grosz crossed under the checkers in second.

“It’s kind of frustrating when you lead a race like that and get passed in lapped traffic. It was another solid run for us though so I can’t complain. Getting second to Matt is nothing to hang your head about,” said Grosz.

“The track was kind of narrow and I didn’t feel like I could follow those lapped cars around the bottom. I knew there were fast cars behind me so I tried the top side and I saw Matt trying to stick his nose underneath me, but I couldn’t take his line away because then I would just be following the lapped cars again. He snuck by me and that’s what decided the end result.”

The following night, Grosz made the tow to Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa for the second time this season.

“We started ninth in the feature and really couldn’t go anywhere. I lost a few spots and gained a few spots on a green-white-checkered restart,” said Grosz. “I went up to the top and stayed up there too long and ended up losing a few spots. Luckily, with that green-white-checkered restart at the end, I was able to go from 10th to eighth using the high side.”

This weekend, Grosz has a Nebraska 360 weekend on tap, beginning on Friday night at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Neb. On Saturday, Grosz will make his first-ever appearance at Shelby County Speedway in Harlan, Iowa.

Saturday’s event at Shelby County can be seen live on Speed Shift TV / FloRacing.
