Joey Pederson in search of his seventh opening night win at River Cities on Friday

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (June 2, 2020) – After over a month of waiting, the WISSOTA Late Models will make their 2020 debut at River Cities Speedway on Friday night. Joey Pederson will be behind the wheel of his ProPower / Victory No. 7P in what will be his first night of action this season.

Pederson has traditionally gotten off to a good start at River Cities Speedway. The East Grand Forks veteran driver has collected six opening night wins at the Bullring, including each of the last two years. Pederson’s other season opener wins came in ‘14, ‘13, 11, and ‘05.

If Pederson can win Friday’s feature, he will become the first Late Model driver to score three consecutive opening night wins since the facility became River Cities Speedway in 1999.

It will be another busy weekend for the entire Joey Pederson Racing team. Tucker will also be in action at River Cities on Friday night in his No. 27P WISSOTA Street Stock. Kelsi will return to action at Devils Lake Speedway on Saturday with the POWRi Lucas Oil Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints.

Both Kelsi and Tucker Pederson completed a two-race weekend at River Cities Speedway and Devils Lake Speedway this past weekend.

Kelsi started on the pole for her heat and cruised to the win, which lined her up inside of row three. Kelsi was able to make her way up to a third-place to finish out the night.

Tucker finished seventh in a stout heat of Street Stocks and was able to move up one position in the feature, finishing 12th.

The following night the team loaded up and made the pull to Devils Lake Speedway. Kelsi moved up one spot in her heat with a flat left front tire. After being called for jumping the start in the sixth position for the feature, Kelsi was sent to the back but methodically worked her way back up front for a third-place finish.

Tucker picked up his heat race win at Devils Lake, which placed him fourth on the starting grid for the feature. Unfortunately, Tucker’s end came to an early end as he was caught up in an incident that caused enough damage to end his night.

The entire Joey Pederson Racing team would like to thank all of their great sponsors for their continued support!
