Grosz scores podium at Jackson to highlight weekend

HARWOOD, N.D. (July 22, 2020) – This past weekend Lee Grosz took on the Midwest’s best in 360 Sprint Car racing as he made visits to Jackson Motorplex on Friday night and Knoxville Raceway on Saturday.

Friday night got off to a great start as Grosz set quick time in time trials over the 32 cars in attendance. Grosz then drove from fourth to second in his heat before rolling off on the outside of row four in the feature after drawing the No. eight pill during the redraw.

“I figured we would have our work cut out for us starting that far back with that good of competition,” said Grosz. “But we actually got up to fourth pretty quick. On a restart, I fell back to about seventh but worked my way back up to third. The leaders got through lapped traffic better than I did so I never really got a shot at them.”

Grosz took the checkers in the third and final podium position.

“If I would have eliminated a couple of my mistakes earlier in the feature, I think I could have had a shot at [the win],” said Grosz. “I feel like we had the car to maybe have a shot at the win, but catching them is one thing, but passing them is another.”

On Saturday, Grosz made his third start of the season at Knoxville Raceway.

“It wasn’t the best of nights,” admitted Grosz. “We timed in eighth and started third in the heat, but ended up having some engine issues. It was our first weekend on the new motor. It just wasn’t taking off like it should. On the start of the heat, by the time I was in turn one I was back to seventh, but ended up finishing sixth.”

That put Grosz fourth on the starting grid for the B-main with the top four advancing to the main event.

“The driver made a mistake at the end and we ended up fifth,” said Grosz. “I’m glad we put the new motor in when we did though. We want to get it figured out before the 360 Nationals in a couple of weeks.”

Up next, Grosz will be heading back to Knoxville on Saturday to fine-tune the setup on the Grinch Service and Sales / Kickass Beef Jerky No. 4J and to dial in the new powerplant.

Lee and the entire team would like to thank all their sponsors for their continued support!
