Mullen Scores Third Consecutive NOSA Podium Finish

By Spieker Promotions

GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 22, 2020) – Brendan Mullen is in the midst of a mid-summer hot streak in the CL Linfoot No. 11, as he scored his third consecutive podium finish on Sunday night with the Northern Outlaw Sprint Association at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.

After hockey commitments caused him to miss the race at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, Mullen made it to the make-up event Sunday at River Cities, where he finished as the runner-up in his heat race after starting fourth.

Mullen scored enough passing points to earn himself the fifth starting spot in the evening’s main event.

After an early red flag, Mullen had to come to the pits for a new right rear tire while running fifth.

Mullen made it back out in time, restarting in the 13th position. Three laps later, Mullen had already charged back inside the top ten.

With 10 laps remaining, Mullen charged from eighth to fourth in one lap, after another caution slowed the 25-lap affair.

Running fourth eventually set up a back-and-forth battle with Austin Pierce for the third position.

The two made contact with six laps remaining, but Mullen was able to continue without a return to the work area.

In the final five circuits, Mullen was able to hold on to third, scoring his third consecutive podium finish with NOSA.

“I’m definitely not happy with third,” Mullen said post-race, “but, in the beginning I was trying to make good laps. [After the tire change] we went back out, I figured I’d try and pass some cars, and we were in third and thought, ‘Oh, shoot, we have a chance at this!’ And then, I just couldn’t get by [Jack] Croaker to get a shot at [Jade] Hastings. Croaker was just hitting the bottom smooth, and I couldn’t get around him.”

Mullen will run twice with NOSA again this weekend, with another run at River Cities, before heading to Jamestown Speedway in Jamestown, ND, for the second time in his three season career.

On his thoughts about heading to Jamestown, Mullen said, “Getting laps, getting adjusted to different tracks, and finding set-ups that work for us. [Crew Chief Todd] Slocum has a huge book with all his years of doing this, but we’re still trying to figure out what he knows that I like. Seat time, and laps, laps, laps.”
