Nygaard Prepares For Double Header Weekend After Another Top Five
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (July 8, 2020) – Last Friday night at River Cities Speedway, Wade Nygaard put another solid night under his belt, as he not only kept his top ten streak alive, but fought from tenth at the start of the feature, finishing fourth, in a performance that was only bested by his teammate, Brendan Mullen.
Another solid qualifying lap in time trials resulted in a third quick time, setting Nygaard up for a fifth-place start in the heat, though that’s also where he finished.
Starting tenth in the main event, Nygaard wasted little time advancing through the field, climbing into the top five just nine laps into the twenty-five lap affair.
Nygaard made one last pass on Shane Roemeling with five to go to score his fourth top five at River Cities in five tries. Nygaard is also now five-for-five in the top ten category at River Cities to begin the season.
“It was a fine night. I wish I would’ve got through my heat race, I qualified pretty decent, and that sets you back in the heat race,” said Nygaard. “The track conditions weren’t great for passing, but you’re gonna have that some of these nights.”
The fast and tacky racing surface on Friday was out of the norm for this season at River Cities.
“Every time we’ve raced here, that track has been different. It’s been a really tricky deal. But tonight, we knew what we were going to get,” said Nygaard.
Nygaard now sets his sights towards this weekend, as he returns to River Cities again on Friday night, before heading west to Devils Lake Speedway near Crary, ND, another track he has had a decent amount of success.
In 45 NOSA events held at Devils Lake, Nygaard has tallied 17 victories, and hasn’t finished worse than fourth since the end of the 2016 season.
