Pederson races to runner-up finish at River Cities
EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (July 8, 2020) – It was another solid outing for Joey Pederson on Friday night at his home track, River Cities Speedway. Pederson picked up a second-place finish in the 20-lap WISSOTA Late Model feature and now sits second in the River Cities Speedway point standings, just one point out of the lead.
For the fifth consecutive night, Pederson raced to a heat race win to start the night. He then lined up on the inside of row four for the feature.
Pederson rode in the sixth position for the bulk of the race, but took advantage of the lap 16 restart. The driver of the Shawn Horn Realtor, Crary Real Estate / Big Jim’s Tire No. 7P cracked the top five on lap 17 before racing into the third position with two laps to go.
Pederson went on to cross under the checkers behind Dustin Strand and Brandon Fuller in third. However, Fuller’s engine blew up coming to the checkers and he failed to report to the scale after the race, which resulted in a disqualification. That gave Pederson a second-place finish and his fourth top five finish at the Bullring in five starts.
Tucker Pederson picked up another top 10 against a strong field of WISSOTA Street Stocks on Friday at River Cities. After finishing fourth in his heat, Tucker went on to score a seventh-place finish in the feature.
Tucker has four top fives at River Cities through the first five races and currently sits eighth in the track point standings.
Saturday’s NLRA Late Model event at Greenbush Race Park was rained out.
This weekend, Joey and Tucker will both be racing at River Cities on Friday while Tucker will take on Greenbush on Saturday. Kelsi will be off again with no Lightning Sprint races scheduled for the second weekend in a row.
