GRAND FORKS, N.D. (August 10, 2020) – Brendan Mullen and the 11M crew had a two race weekend. The performances were strong, though the results may not show the same picture.
Thursday night the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprint Cars made their only trip of the year to the Norman County Raceway. After moving up two spots in his heat to pick up the win, he started seventh on the starting grid for the 17-car, 25-lap feature.
After a series of cautions to begin the race, Brendan quickly worked his way up to the front and set his sights on leader Nick Omdahl. On a restart with 8 laps to go, Brendan took his chance to get around the 0 machine. Unfortunately he hopped Omdahl’s tire which caused the No. 11M to spin in front of the entire field on the front stretch. Luckily he was able to avoid all cars and miraculously kept the 410-cubic inch sleigh from tipping. However, due to the contact, he suffered front end damage ending his night early. He came home with an 11th place finish on the night.
The team worked hard and had the junior driver ready to battle The Bullring. After picking up quicktime, Mullen finished his heat in seventh. He lined up ninth for the 17-car, 25-lap feature.
Mullen used the low and middle grooves to methodically begin working his way towards the front. A caution quickly flew and set up a restart one lap completed. Again, he used the bottom and middle groove to collect the checkers in fourth.
The No. 11M and crew will be back in action this Friday at The Bullring. Hotlaps are at 6:30pm with racing at 7pm.
