Lee Grosz passes 17 cars for top-five finish in return to River Cities Speedway

HARWOOD, N.D. (September 16, 2020) – For the first time since September of 2014, Lee Grosz ran the family-owned No. 4J at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, N.D. over the weekend. The event on Friday night during the John Seitz Memorial was Grosz’s first of the season with the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA 410s. The night began, after a three-hour rain delay, with a strong run in his heat as Grosz raced from fifth to third.

That put Grosz eighth on the grid for the 30-lap feature.

“At the start of the feature, I got a little excited and tried to win it in the first corner and spun out. I just went to the back and told myself to be patient and calm,” said Grosz recalling the opening lap.

Despite restarting 21st, Grosz didn’t stay back there long. The driver of the Grinch Service and Sales / HI-10 Sports Center No. 4J drove through the field and cracked the top 10 by lap four. He continued his trek to the front by breaking into the top five by racing from sixth to fourth on lap 17.

“I ended up getting up to third, but got too tight towards the end up on the top and lost a spot,” said Grosz. “I’m happy with fourth though. I haven’t been here in a while with my own equipment. It was a good field of cars too so we were happy to pick up another top-five.”

Even though he was underpowered with the 360c.i. motor, compared to the 410s, Grosz said he couldn’t tell much of a difference.

“When I’m racing, I don’t really pay attention to it. I just try to focus on hitting my marks. I think when we would catch moisture and (the other drivers) would launch off the bottom, I feel like they could pull me a little more on exit, but on a short track like this I don’t think it makes that big of a difference,” he said.

This weekend, Grosz returns to Huset’s Speedway on Friday and Saturday for the Power Series Nationals. In Grosz’s return to Huset’s on September 5-6, he raced to a pair of top five finishes, highlighted by a third-place run.

Lee and the entire team would like to thank all their sponsors for their continued support!
