Nygaard hard-charges to runner-up finish at River Cities
GRAND FORKS, N.D. (September 2, 2020) – Wade Nygaard recorded his third runner-up finish of the season last Friday night at River Cities Speedway with the Buffalo Wild Wings NOSA Sprints.
Nygaard started seventh on the grid for the 25-lap, 21-car feature and cracked the top five on lap 12.
From there, Nygaard took advantage of a late-race restart to catapult himself into a podium position. In a thrilling last few laps, Nygaard worked his way around early-race leader Chris Ranten and NOSA point leader Jade Hastings to claim the second spot.
From there, he set his sights on Pierce for the lead. Coming off of turn four towards the checkers, Nygaard had a huge run on leader Austin Pierce but came up two car lengths short of his first win of the season.
The Auto Finance Super Center team seems to be peaking towards the end of the season. Nygaard has collected three consecutive podium finishes with the NOSA Sprints and only has one finish outside of the top 10 since July 17th.
He currently sits second in the point standings, 44 markers behind Hastings.
The 10-time NOSA champion will return to action this Friday at River Cities Speedway. Hot laps are at 6:30pm with racing at 7:00pm.
