Runner-up Finish Clinches Greenbush Title For Tucker

By Spieker Promotions

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (September 2, 2020) –  It was a doubleheader weekend at Greenbush Race Park that both Tucker and Kelsi have made their regular home just as their parents did when they raced Super Stocks in the 1990’s.

Tucker started sixth in the first of his pair of features of the weekend at Greenbush, but slid back to seventh on a couple of occasions during the 15-lap race.

In the final two circuits around the slightly bigger than quarter-mile Greenbush speed plant, Tucker made a pair of passes on veterans John Halvorson, and closest rival for the points title, Doug VanMil, to score his first top five of the weekend.

Tucker charged from fifth to third in his heat race on Sunday to earn the third starting spot for his final main event at Greenbush for the 2020 campaign.

Tucker made short work of taking the top spot, as he led the opening lap and the six that followed. Kyle Dykhoff took the lead on the eighth circuit and went on to win, but Tucker’s runner-up performance was more than enough to secure the point title.

Kelsi’s weekend was nearly as good as her brother Tucker’s, as she headed into the weekend looking to reverse the bad luck that had followed the No. 93 Shawn Horn Crary Realtor / Amy Dallum Photography Henchcraft Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprint.

Kelsi won both of her heat races on the weekend, including an impressive charge from sixth on Sunday evening.

By the third lap of Saturday’s feature, Kelsi was running in the second spot, where she remained for the majority of the 15 lapper. Kelsi lost a couple spots in the waning circuits, but brought home a fourth place finish.

Kelsi led the opening lap of Sunday’s finale for her Greenbush schedule, but ran third from lap five until the end of the race, scoring a podium finish.

The Pederson boys kicked off the weekend as they usually do, on Friday night at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, where Tucker raced his way up from 12th to eight in the 15-lap Street Stock feature.

Joey started fifth in the Late Model main event in his No. 7P Olson Underground / B&E Meats Victory. After a caution late in the 20-lap event, Joey was the only driver inside the top five to abandon the bottom of the track, as he used the cushion to move past Brody Troftgruben for fourth on the final lap.

This week, Joey and Tucker will run at the 14th annual John Seitz Memorial at River Cities, which starts on Thursday night.

The entire Joey Pederson Racing team would like to thank all of their great sponsors for their continued support!
