Jason Strand joins the NLRA Late Models in 2021

PORTLAND, N.D. (May 14, 2021) – After running a limited schedule the last two seasons, Jason Strand is set to kick off what could be his biggest season yet. The E85 Racing driver has traded his Wissota Midwest Mod for a 750-plus horsepower Late Model for the 2021 season.

Strand’s season opens tonight at River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks.

“It’s something that I’ve always wanted to do,” said Strand. “I got a good opportunity with Dustin Strand to make things happen to get into a Late Model… so we just decided to go for it.”

Jason will be racing most Friday nights at River Cities and plans on traveling with the Northern Late Model Racing Association series across North Dakota and Minnesota as farming allows.

Besides a short practice session earlier in the week, Strand has limited laps in his 2018 Millenium SRT Late Model.

“It will be different. I’ve never really driven one before so I don’t know what to expect until I get some laps. I’m just really looking forward to it,” he commented.

The NLRA tour will take Strand back to some familiar dirt ovals including Norman County Raceway in Ada, Minn. on June 24th and July 29th, as well as a trip to Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo on August 21st as NLRA co-headlines the night with the World of Outlaws Sprint Cars.

“I’m stoked to bring the Late Model to Ada,” said Strand. “That’s my home track and my favorite track to race at.”

With the increase in horsepower comes an increase in competition as the Late Model division offers some of the region’s top talent.

“I’m really looking forward to running with the Late Model guys. It seems like they all run clean. I’m not saying the B-Mod guys don’t, but for the most part, the Late Models provide good clean racing,” he said. “Just to try to race with those guys and keep up with them will be fun. They are the best in our area and are really good behind the wheel.”
