Joey Pederson Opens Up The Year With A Top Five At River Cities

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (May 13, 2021) – The 2021 campaign is underway for the Joey Pederson Racing family, as Joey brought his Late Model to River Cities Speedway last Friday night, scoring a top five finish.
Joey started his night on the front row of his heat race, leading every lap en route to the heat win.
The opening night redraw placed Joey in the fifth starting spot in the main event.
Joey charged from fifth to second by the end of the opening lap of the 20-lap feature, including a three-wide battle for the lead on the first exit of the second turn.
A yellow flag on the sixth lap put Joey to the inside of Dustin Strand on the ensuing double-file restart.
Joey held off Dustin Strand to remain second on the restart before another caution a few laps later.
Joey slipped back to fourth on the following restart, and to fifth on the fourth and final restart with nine laps remaining.
Joey remained in fifth in the waning circuits to score his first top five of the season.
Joey will head back to River Cities this Friday night, while Kelsi will kick off her 2021 season on Saturday night at Devils Lake Speedway with the Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints.
