Kelsi Pederson makes season debut at River Cities following podium finish at Devils Lake

EAST GRAND FORKS, Minn. (May 20, 2021) – Joey and Kelsi Pederson were both in action last weekend, as the pair improved the family top five streak to four-for-four early in the 2021 campaign. Kelsi will return to her home track, River Cities Speedway in Grand Forks, on Friday night.
Joey kicked off the weekend as he looked to gain a few more spots from his fifth place run one week prior.

A poor draw set Joey up in the eighth starting spot in his heat race, but he stormed all the way to second in the eight lap race.

That was good enough to put him in a draw spot as it was WISSOTA AFCO Race of Champions night at the three-tenths ‘Bullring.’

Joey drew the outside of the front row for the main event, and led the field with Dustin Strand to the green flag at the start.

Joey remained no more than a car length and a half from Strand as the pair negotiated through lapped traffic near the midway point.

Joey made one last dash for the win late in the going, abandoning the bottom of three and four, briefly pulling even with Strand. Joey crossed the line third, as Michael Greseth took second at the line at the conclusion of the green-to-checkered affair that lasted all of five minutes.

On Saturday night, Kelsi started her 2021 campaign with the Lucas Oil POWRi Minn-Kota Lightning Sprints at Devils Lake Speedway near Crary, ND.

Kelsi ended up finishing second in her heat race to start the night, placing her in the fourth starting spot in the main event.

After a caution on the initial start, Kelsi moved on to the podium on the second circuit before another caution shortly thereafter.

Kelsi then went wheel-to-wheel with Alan Truscinski, taking the second spot before another yellow with five laps completed.

Kelsi ran third until the penultimate caution with four laps remaining, taking second before the final slow down with three to go.

Kelsi came within a car length of Dexter Dvergsten for the win, but ran out of time, finishing as the runner-up.

The entire Joey Pederson Racing team would like to thank all of their great sponsors for their continued support!
