GRAND FORKS, N.D. (May 20, 2021) – Coming off a season opening win at River Cities one week prior, Brendan Mullen embarked on a three day swing last weekend. The BWW Northern Outlaw Sprint Association (NOSA) headed south to Jackson Motorplex in Minnesota and to I-90 and Huset’s Speedways in South Dakota.
On Friday night at Jackson Motorplex, Mullen ran for just the third time at the four-tenths mile oval, qualifying fifth in his group. After a runner-up finish in his heat race, Mullen started on the fifth row in the main event.
Mullen ran as high as sixth during the first third of the 25-lap affair, crossing the line in the 10th spot at the conclusion of the race.
The remainder of the weekend Mullen continued to carry speed through every race, but some tough breaks placed Mullen lower in the results than the team would’ve hoped for.
On Saturday at I-90 Speedway Mullen finished second in his qualifying lap with a blistering eleven-and-a-half second lap, followed by another runner-up finish in his heat race.
Mullen was running a solid third during that night’s feature when contact battling for position flattened the left rear tire, eventually leading to the end of his race.
On Sunday at Huset’s Speedway, Brendan finished as the runner-up in the B Main and was making steady progress through the field from 21st to 14th.
Shortly thereafter, while making a pass for the 13th spot the 11M climb over another competitors’ left front wheel, ending his night on the hook.
Mullen had a weekend of consistent finishes and now sits fifth in the current NOSA point standings, as he’ll head into Friday night’s return to River Cities seven markers back of the point lead.
