Schatz collects three top 10 finishes in PA; Bridgeport up next

FARGO, N.D. (May 17, 2021) – The World of Outlaws’ first swing through the northeast continues Tuesday with a trip to Bridgeport Speedway in Swedesboro, New Jersey.

Last week, Schatz picked up three top 10 finishes in Pennsylvania, highlighted by a fifth-place effort at Lincoln Speedway.

The World of Outlaws have visited Bridgeport Speedway just twice since 2003. Most recently, Schatz finished second at the speedway in 2019 after a great battle with Danny Dietrich at the finish. A hard-charging Schatz came from fourth to reel in and pass Dietrich with two to go to take the lead. Dietrich found a way around Schatz coming to the white flag as Schatz had to settle for second at the checkers.

Schatz’s only other start at the high-banked New Jersey oval was a fourth-place run in October of 2003.

Last week’s racing action got underway with a midweek special at Lincoln Speedway in Pennsylvania. Schatz was fast all night, timing in second quick in his qualifying group, winning his heat race and winning the DIRTVision Fast Pass Dash to start on the pole of the A-main.

The 10-time World of Outlaws champion jumped out to the early lead over Brad Sweet and looked to have the dominant car. Schatz led 23 of the first 24 circuits of the event until Brent Marks took the point on lap 25 of 35. Schatz remained well within striking distance of Marks until a lapped car nearly spun in front of both Marks and Schatz, forcing them to come to a near stop. No yellow was displayed, which allowed Sweet to sneak underneath and steal the lead.

Both Marks and Schatz lost several car lengths to Sweet as the action got strung out after the near incident.

At the checkers, Schatz crossed the line in fifth.

On Friday and Saturday, the series headed to Williams Grove Speedway in Mechanicsburg. Schatz scored a pair of eighth place finishes at the semi-banked half-mile oval.

Schatz entered the doubleheader at Williams Grove sitting sixth in points, 170 behind leader Sweet. With the weekend now in the rearview mirror, Schatz sits 150 markers behind Sweet and just four points behind Sheldon Haudenschild in fifth.

Schatz and the entire Tony Stewart/Curb-Agajanian Racing team would like to thank all of their great partners for their continued support!
